What it detects

Weak hash used for password storage: a secrets check run by the textscan analyzer.

Evidence

The matching source path, line, and bounded code observation produced by the native rule.

Remediation

Use bcrypt, scrypt, argon2, or PBKDF2 for password hashing. Raw MD5/SHA1 is unsuitable — they're fast hashes with no work factor and no per-record salt.

Limitations

This check is limited to the applicability and evidence delivered by textscan. Review the evidence in context; a match is a finding input, while confidence and policy determine its disposition.
